Can I find a part-time job to cover my study and living costs in Portugal?
The reality is that unemployment is very high in Portugal, salary rates are the lowest, and jobs require Portuguese language. Unlike other European countries, you can not earn enough to study and survive. Keep in mind that € 550 salary mentioned is for full-time proper job.
Unfortunately, I have met too many Pakistanis here who are broke with no job and no money and in miserable situation, so come prepared!
You can ask around your Portuguese friends and you'll get rather candid views about the economy and the government! It's hard, don't you see why many of the Portuguese youth leave the country to find work elsewhere!
As per SEF legislation (nÂș 6/2004 of 26 April), you may need prior approval from SEF before starting part-time work.

The holder of a study visa who wishes to work on a complementary basis should file a request with SEF, accompanied by the labour contract, previously filed with the General Inspectorate of Labour.
